Goo-Goo for Gaga

It's been a while since Lady Gaga's video, "Bad Romance" released, but now the anime-eyed look Gaga portrayed in the video has become a big trend amongst youngsters around the world. I love Lady Gaga and think that the look was great for the video, but definitely not for everyday wear. It was even said that the look was computer generated! The way teens have been able to obtain this look, is by purchasing contacts, from a variety of vendors, that cover the ENTIRE iris. But is this safe? According to eye doctors, it is not. These contacts, in fact, deprive the eyes of oxygen and, worse than regular contacts, greaten the risk of losing eyesight. In the U.S. the contacts have become illegal to sell, however, people still find ways to purchase them easily for around $20. YouTube makeup tutorials collecting millions of views have also been a huge factor in the encouragement of the usage of these dangerous contacts. Although, the message is being put out there, this is not enough to convince those who already wear them on a daily basis. Will it take the the loss of sight to finally make the connection? They are a fashion statement, but quite a risky one to make. Is it really worth the risk of losing your eyesight to go goo-goo for Gaga? I think not.

Forever Fixated,

Jae
